PRS Members’ Fund 90th Anniversary

A woman with her hands in the air at a concert making a heart shape with her hands

We’re celebrating 90 years of supporting PRS songwriters, composers and their families in times of need!

On March 19th, 1934, composer Frederic Austin, author Henry Jocelyn Clive Graham and publisher Herbert Smith, signed the Trust Deed to establish the PRS Benevolent Fund. Since then, we’ve been there for PRS members and those around them – every step of the way.

This milestone gives us the opportunity to celebrate the legacy of our founders and the rich history of the Fund, but also to reflect on the impact of our work and the plan for the future.

Get ready to celebrate with us, we will have a year full of news, history insights and great events, so stay tuned!

HOW WE CELEBRATE

We are planning a year full of new features and updates for our members!

Since our founding days, our primary goal has been to provide a comprehensive support network for PRS creatives struggling with financial, physical and mental health issues, debt and housing needs. To do this, we are always looking for ways to improve our services and the way we communicate with our membership.

These are some of the new features we are launching this year:

NEW WEBSITE

We are proud to be starting our Anniversary Year by launching our new website! The primary aim of this work is to reflect the growth of the Fund and embrace the introduction of new design, tools and improved, accessible navigation, as the needs of PRS songwriters and composers change.

We have enriched the homepage with interactive elements to allow our users to become active participants. We hope you’ll like it!

ANNIVERSARY LOGO

Our new brand logo that highlights our 90th anniversary celebration will be visible across our new website, all of our communications and artworks.

This is Your fund, for you since 1934. Get ready to celebrate with us this year!

KEEP IN TOUCH

On our new website you will also find the newsletter subscription box. By signing up you’ll receive email updates to keep you up to date with the latest news, services and events we offer to PRS members, as well as helpful tips and information.

EVENTS AND WEBINARS

We’re planning a whole year of events with talks and webinars on topics related to the partnerships and services we offer PRS members. Keep watching our socials and subscribe to our newsletter to stay updated when they arrive!

OUR BOARD OF TRUSTEES

This year we welcome our new chairman Sarah Rodgers, deputy chairman Pete Glenister, and our two new trustees Pete Woodroffe and Simon Platz. Exciting times ahead!

Sarah Rodgers says: “I am deeply honoured to be chairman of The Fund during this Anniversary year. I have been a writer member of PRS for over 40 years and know first-hand how much of a roller-coaster building a creative career can be. The Fund is an essential safety-net and we are here to do our best to catch PRS members when life trips them up. This year we celebrate what has gone before and look forward to continuing to be of vital service to our members.”

OUR FUTURE PLANS:

Continue to work together with PRS For Music: to support members during difficult times.
Raise awareness of our work: no eligible PRS member who is experiencing distress should hesitate in asking for help from the Fund, this is your Fund, for you!
Increase our presence online: provide more webinars on mental health and other topics, useful content and other resources.
Improve diversity and inclusion: look at how we can become better engaged with the whole membership.
Develop our services: review and improve our help to meet our members’ needs.

SUPPORT OUR WORK

For 90 years, thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we have been able to provide essential grants to PRS songwriters, composers and their families during difficult times.

We want to take this opportunity to thank all those who have helped support our work and whose donations have allowed us to make a difference in the lives of many fellow music creators. Thanks to your invaluable contributions we are able to implement our services and better serve our members in need.

To those who want to support our work, you can check the many ways to donate on our website at www.prsmembersfund.com/donate.

Every penny donated will be applied towards grants and will allow us to continue to deliver our work.

If you are in a position to remember us in your Will it will help us to carry on the good work we do. We are pleased to offer a free Will writing service. Visit www.prsmembersfund.com/legacy to find out more.
