If you've got questions about the PRS Member's Fund, we'll try and answer them

Who is the PRS Members’ Fund?

We are a charitable organisation dedicated to supporting the welfare needs of PRS for Music members. We are PRS for Music’s charity and access to support from the Fund is a benefit of PRS membership.

What does the PRS Members’ Fund do?

We support the financial and wellbeing needs of eligible PRS for Music members. Because we understand that each person’s circumstances are different, every application is considered on a case by case basis.

Who can apply for support?

You are eligible to apply for support if you have been a PRS for Music member for seven years, or if you have earned at least £500 in PRS royalties — whichever comes first.

What can the Fund help with?

We will consider a wide range of requests relating to welfare, financial need and wellbeing. We review every application on a case-by-case basis, because no two situations are the same.

What does the Fund not support?

We do not support career development costs, music projects or activity intended to further a member’s career. This type of support may fall under the work of our sister charity, the PRS Foundation.

We do not usually support education and training costs.

How do I apply?

There are a few ways you can apply for support:

  • You can apply online by following the application link on our website.
  • If you find online forms difficult, we can complete the form with you over the phone. Please make sure you have all the information you need ready for the call.
  • If you prefer, we can provide a paper application form on request. This can be sent to you by email or post.

What information will I need to provide?

  • 2 x  months bank statements
  • A medical report no older than 3 months

You will also need to provide details about your circumstances, your financial situation and the support you are asking for. We may also ask for additional supporting documents so that we can fully understand your situation.

Can I get help completing the form?

Yes. We provide guidance to help you complete the form, and we are happy to talk you through the process if you need support.

What happens after I apply?

Once we receive your application, we will review the information provided and may contact you if we need anything further. Your application will then be considered in line with the Fund’s criteria and the support available.

How long does the application process take?

Timescales can vary depending on the nature of the request and the information provided.  We aim to complete applications within ten workings days but we will try to keep you updated throughout the process.

Will my application be confidential?

Yes. Applications are handled sensitively and confidentially. Information is only used to assess your request and provide appropriate support.

Can I apply more than once?

You may be able to apply again if your circumstances change or if you need further support. Each application is reviewed individually and in line with the Fund’s criteria.

Who can I contact if I have questions?

If you have any questions about eligibility, the application process or the support available, please contact the PRS Members’ Fund team. We will be happy to help.
