UK Music organisations unites to support artists and businesses affected by PledgeMusic’s collapse

June 6, 2019

Yesterday, Wednesday 5th of June, we united with a group of music trade organisations and charities to launch an impact survey to assess and understand those that have been financially affected by PledgeMusic’s demise.

Our aim is to help coordinate assistance to those facing difficulties and, as part of the group of organisations, we have issued a joint statement:

‘As organisations who want to see the music industry thrive, we are deeply disappointed that PledgeMusic has announced its bankruptcy leaving artists and fans out of pocket and with little communication or advice on how to deal with campaign disruption.’

Promoted jointly by UK Music, Music Managers ForumMusicians’ Union, the Association of Independent Music, Help Musicians UKPRS Foundation and International Showcase Fund partners, including British Underground, PRS Members’ Fund, the Music Producers Guild, The Ivors Academy, Featured Artists Coalition, Music Support, and the BPI, information provided by the survey will help industry better understand the scale of the fallout from Pledge’s collapse and help ensure artists and businesses are given the support they require.

The deadline to complete the impact assessment is midday on Tuesday 25 June, it should be completed by individuals and businesses alike and it can be accessed here.

Alongside the survey, industry umbrella body UK Music is seeking an investigation from the Competition and Markets Authority in relation to PledgeMusic and is raising the case with Ministers and MPs to identify steps to ensure this perilous situation is not repeated in the future.

You don’t need to be a member of any of the listed organisations to contribute to the survey, but if you need additional help or advice and you are a PRS member, don’t hesitate to get in touch with us at fund@prsformusic.com or call 020 3741 4067
