We hosted the first informal Fund Get Together on the 9th March, at PRS for Music, Kings Cross. About 40 members, along with Fund staff and committee, mingled over a drink and nibbles. Entertainment was provided by several members singing for us.
Some of those who attended were beneficiaries, and wanted to help us spread the word to other members about how the Fund can help. Others were what Megg Nicol, in her address as a committee member, termed “Friends of the Fund”. Megg also mentioned “Helping the Heart of Music”, a brand which was launched with a gig in the Royal Albert Hall in 2009 and may be renewed in future marketing.
The event gave members the opportunity to chat to each other, and also for beneficiaries to put faces to the names of the staff. It was entirely up to the beneficiaries to say whether they had received help – the focus was on them being PRS members.
We are planning to hold these get-togethers regularly in different parts of the country, and we’ll be mailing members in particular areas to invite them along.
If you can think of a name for these events, please let us know!
Huge thanks to all who came and supported us and entertained us and to Sylvan Mason for taking these photographs.
